Los Angeles-based real estate agency, The Oppenheim Group, who are behind Netflix’s hit series Selling Sunset is expanding into the Middle East with its first UAE office in Dubai to open in December. A local version of the reality show might also be in the pipeline.
According to The National, a UAE-based publication which mentioned Omar Abaza, a friend and business associate of Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim, the Oppenheim Group, Co-founded by Jason, has chosen Dubai for its fifth international office. Other existing locations of the agency are – Newport Beach and San Diego in California, alongside its Cabo San Lucas office in Mexico.
The group’s expansion into the UAE is being led by Omar, with recruitment already taking place to form a team of estate agents who could potentially appear in a Dubai-based reality series.
According to The National, the 7,000 sq ft Dubai office is expected to launch in December and will initially comprise 20 brokers. It will feature a portfolio of luxury residential properties across Dubai, supported by the firm’s international client network.
The brokerage plans to grow its Dubai team over the coming months, while its agents are also expected to pursue opportunities in Abu Dhabi’s property market.
“We still want to be a boutique brokerage, but a lot of what we’re selling in Southern California — there’s so much confluence with Dubai.
“So many of our clients live in Dubai part-time, or live in Southern California and travel to Dubai, a lot of people from Dubai travel to Los Angeles or Newport Beach.”
Statement, Jason Oppenheim
Jason confirmed that the company aims to increase its UAE workforce to as many as 40 agents, citing he wants ‘to keep the family atmosphere, and we want agents that are experienced and successful’.
“Let’s put it this way, the show covers the brokerage, and the brokerage is moving to Dubai. So it could be that people will see it be discussed when season ten comes out. Obviously, they won’t see the finished office.”
Statement, Jason Oppenheim
Jason, who is currently filming the 10th season of Selling Sunset, also implied that viewers could eventually see the franchise expand in the Middle East.
