Emaar to build Dubai super tower to compete with Burj Khalifa

Emaar is to build a Dubai super tower to compete with the Burj Khalifa. It will rival its own biggest project.

Emaar is to build a Dubai tower tall enough to rival the world-famous Burj Khalifa. Dubai’s largest real estate developer has revealed plans to rival one of its own biggest projects.

Arabian Business reports that the tower will be the world’s second tallest building when built, although the exact height and location have not yet been revealed

Possible locations include the Dubai Creek project, which already has plans for a mega tower in the works, or even nearby the Burj Khalifa.

The Dubai Creek plan was set to be taller than the Burj Khalifa but that has been pegged back. Emaar has not confirmed if the tall tower, being discussed today, is the same one as the Dubai Creek Tower or not.

The tower’s focus would primarily be on high-end offices, leisure facilities, hotels and residences.

Early design concepts reportedly include bold and futuristic visions – ranging from glass tube-style structures to rocket-inspired forms – further cementing Dubai’s ambition to stay at the forefront of global architectural innovation.

“We are talking about the kind of design and construction that nobody in the world will come close to doing, let alone the height of this building.

“This tower would be the biggest thing built not just in Dubai but the world since the Burj Khalifa. We have done it once, so we know better than anyone how to do it twice.”

Another building, the Burj Azizi will be a 725-metre skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road when built, around 100 metres shorter than Emaar’s Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building – that reaches 828 metres.
