Umm Al Qura unveils new mixed-use urban destination

Umm Al Qura reveals a new mixed-used urban destination which will feature residential, commercial and hospitality spaces.

Saudi developer Umm Al Qura unveils Masar Gardens – a mixed-use urban destination in Makkah. It will feature residential, commercial, hospitality, and public-use components supported by extensive infrastructure, green spaces, pedestrian pathways and modern mobility solutions spanning over a 1.2 million sqm area.

With an initial infrastructure and land investment of SAR 6bn ($1.6bn), the project is curated to contribute to Makkah’s long-term urban development goals while elevating quality of life and strengthening the city’s attractiveness as an investment destination. 

Expected to be developed over a five-year period, Masar Garden comes as part of Umm Al Qura’s new growth strategy, designed to boosts its transformation from a single-destination developer into a diversified urban destination and investment platform across the kingdom’s Western Region.

A top official comments the new strategy aligns to broaden Umm Al Qura’s development portfolio beyond its flagship Masar Destination, with future developments planned across Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah.

Company CEO Yasser Abuateek mentions Umm Al Qura aims to create a diversified portfolio of urban destinations valued at over SAR 50bn ($13.2bn) while attracting new investment opportunities and strategic partnerships.

“The launch of our new strategy represents a pivotal turning point in the company’s journey, as we move from a phase of capability building to one of considered expansion. The achievements of the past years have provided us with the confidence, expertise, and readiness to advance toward managing a fully integrated portfolio of urban destinations.

“Through this, we aim to create sustainable value for place, community, and investors within a robust governance framework that supports continued growth and contributes to generating long-term impact across the western region.”
