Oman design build expo records strong investment deals

The exhibition saw strong participation from investors, real estate developers, decision makers, experts, and local and international companies.

The 21st edition of the Oman Real Estate, Design & Build Exhibition and Conference ended in Muscat following four days of intensive real estate and investment activity. The exhibitions inked $1.14bln in deals and attracted over 35.000 visitors.

The event witnessed strong participation from investors, real estate developers, decision makers, experts, and local and international companies specialising in real estate development, urban planning, design and construction.

This year’s exhibition strengthened the evolving position of the Sultanate of Oman on the regional real estate and urban investment map, through the signing of major agreements.

The announcement of strategic projects and investment opportunities, the organisation of dialogue sessions and workshops addressing the future of cities, infrastructure, sustainability, digital transformation, and modern real estate technologies have made significant contributions.

The event featured over 120 exhibitors from eight countries, alongside over 50 panel discussions and technical sessions with the participation of over 95 local and international speakers, including officials, experts, developers, architects and specialists.

The conference’s role was further strengthened as a regional platform that binds together real estate investment, urban planning and innovation.

The conference saw significant investment activity, including the signing of six partnership and development agreements for integrated residential neighbourhoods in Sultan Haitham City and Sorouh projects, with a combined investment value over RO 443m ($1.14bn).

Moreover, four tenders worth over RO 52.8m were awarded for projects linked to Sultan Haitham City and Thuraya City, reflecting the accelerating pace of major urban developments across Oman.

The event also witnessed the signing of a MoU for the development of the Al Khuwair Downtown project, reaffirming the direction toward modern mixed-use urban destinations.

In addition, 182 usufruct contracts were signed with a total investment value reaching over RO 37.8m, covering governmental, industrial, agricultural, commercial, mixed-use, and residential-commercial projects. This deal makes a significant contribution to the efficient utilisation of government land and supporting economic diversification and development in the governorates.

Among the infrastructure sector, 18 agreements were signed to implement infrastructure services for integrated residential neighbourhoods under the Sorouh initiative. This included the neighbourhoods of Al Falah, Al Salam, Al Multaqa, Al Muzn, Nasmat Al Zain, and Husn Al Zain.

These agreements seek to accelerate the readiness of integrated communities and to improve the quality of infrastructure and essential services assisting urban growth.

The conference saw the launch of five new investment opportunities within the ‘Sorouh’ projects. Several endowment investment opportunities were introduced through the ‘Tatwir’ platform in partnership with the Oman Endowment Foundation, reflecting efforts to improve public-private partnerships and grow investment in development and urban sectors.

The expo addressed improving project execution efficiency, enhancing supply chain sustainability, strengthening local content, and investigating investment opportunities in large-scale urban developments and smart city technologies.

The exhibition had workshops and presentations to showcase the importance of creating more sustainable and efficient urban environments through enhanced infrastructure, public spaces, improved project quality, and innovation in the construction sector, on target with Oman’s accelerating urban growth.
