The Blue Residency Visa was recently announced by the UAE leadership. The idea was built on the momentum of COP28, which concluded last December with the landmark UAE Consensus, and as part of the UAE’s year of sustainability.
This further cements the UAE’s role as a global leader in sustainability, environmental stewardship, and nature conservation.
It also follows on from the 2022 decision to introduce a five-year ‘Green Residence Visa’ aimed at attracting and retaining exceptional talents, skilled professionals, freelancers, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide.
“In alignment with the national directives declared by the UAE President, to designate 2024 as the year of sustainability in the UAE, we introduced the ‘Blue Residency’, a 10-year residency granted to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to environment protection, whether in marine life, land-based ecosystems, or air quality, sustainability technologies, the circular economy or related fields. The sustainability of our economy is now linked to the sustainability of our environment… Our national orientations are clear and firm in this area.”

Those interested in the UAE Blue Residency are invited to submit their applications directly through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security services.

Additionally, nominations and recommendations by competent authorities within the state are accepted, highlighting a collaborative effort to champion environmental conservation.
Recently, the Chairman and Founder of DAMAC, Hussain Sajwani received a lifetime achievement award.
The milestone achievement came after being recognised for his accomplishments at the company.
Joining a cohort of previous winners including HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and HE Sheikh Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi among other pre-eminent figures, Hussain established DAMAC Group in 1982 and has grown the company expeditiously since through its catering and logistics arm.
